Malaysia Airlines Prepares to Increase A330neo Order.

Malaysia Airlines is preparing to increase its order for Airbus A330neos as part of its plans to expand its fleet. According to a Reuters report, the additional order could be made official during Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim's visit to France.

Prime Minister Ibrahim is expected to meet with French President Emmanuel Macron during his two-day official visit to Paris. It is stated that the new aircraft order agreement with Airbus may be announced during the meeting.

Fourth A330neo Takes Delivery

Malaysia Airlines has added a fourth Airbus A330-900 (registered 9M-MNK) to its fleet in June 2025. Following the grand ceremony of taking delivery of the first A330neo in December 2024, this delivery brings the number of new-generation wide-body aircraft from Airbus to four.

"This aircraft, which arrived in Malaysia from the Airbus assembly line in Toulouse, is not just a delivery, but a commitment to bring Malaysian hospitality to the world," the company said in a statement.

Malaysia’s flag carrier had ordered a total of 20 A330neos from Airbus in 2022. With deliveries expected to be completed by 2028, the aircraft will replace the current A330-300 fleet and allow the airline to expand its routes.

Boeing 737 MAX Deliveries Continue

Malaysia Airlines continues to strengthen its narrow-body fleet. The company has taken delivery of its 12th Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft as of July 3, 2025. The aircraft, registered 9M-MVM, took off from Seattle Boeing Field and arrived in Kuala Lumpur via Honolulu and Guam.

Malaysia Aviation Group (MAG) ordered 25 Boeing 737 MAX 8s through Air Lease Corporation in February 2022. In addition to these orders, 18 737-8s and 12 737-10s were ordered in March 2025, and an option for 30 aircraft was added to the agreement.
