Minister Şimşek explained: Which professions declare how much gross monthly income?

Treasury and Finance Minister Mehmet Şimşek announced the income declarations of professional groups. Şimşek stated that doctors declared 61,031 lira per month last year, while jewelers declared an average of 42,360 lira per month. Şimşek noted that income declarations were low, adding, "Therefore, we will further increase the level of effort in the fight against informal employment."

Treasury and Finance Minister Mehmet Şimşek announced the monthly income declarations of certain professional groups as part of his fight against the informal economy. Speaking on a program on Channel 7, Şimşek stated that declared incomes do not reflect actual earnings and that inspections will be increased.

Şimşek stated that the declarations were low, adding, "Moreover, even though these figures have increased as a result of our audits, the picture is still like this. In 2023, these figures were much more symbolic."

Şimşek, who shared the average monthly gross income declarations of some professional groups for 2024 as part of the fight against informality, gave the following examples:

* Actor, actress, stuntman: 157,265 TL

* Musician, vocal artist, presenter: 136,900 TL

* Pharmacist: 66,236 TL

* Doctor working in a private hospital: 61,031 TL

* Jeweler: 42,360 TL

* Lawyer: 33,641 TL

* Restaurants: 20,329 TL

* Taxi driver: 12,961 TL

* Buffets: 11,529 TL

* Grocery store/market: 10,149 TL

* Minibus driver: 8,954 TL

* Women's hairdresser: 4,729 TL

* Men's hairdresser: 3,633 TL

"We will increase the dose in the fight against informality"

Şimşek said, "Consider these figures, especially in big cities and tourist areas. A restaurant will operate for a month, and its gross monthly income will be an average of 20,329 lira. Therefore, we will further increase the level of our fight against informal economy."

Şimşek stated that they are implementing technology to combat informal economy, adding that the Revenue Administration will be restructured using artificial intelligence algorithms. Şimşek said, "We will utilize all the capabilities of technology to strengthen all areas of informal economy and compliance processes. We will combat informal economy."
