Flames approach residential areas in Bursa forest fire

Driven by the wind, the flames, which spread rapidly and erupted in multiple locations simultaneously, reached the Çakmak neighborhood, a community of 200 people with 60 households, which had been evacuated. Residents and volunteers were evacuated from the area to support the firefighting efforts, and vehicles were diverted to assist those trapped.

As the flames approached residential areas, extensive security measures were taken in the neighborhood. Harmancık Neighborhood Headman İbrahim Doğan, contacted by phone by a DHA reporter, said, “The flames are very close to the neighborhood. To prevent the fire from reaching the houses, we dug a trench around the neighborhood with construction equipment and created a perimeter. We are waiting for the water trucks to arrive. There are no houses currently damaged. We had previously removed the small and large livestock from our neighborhood and moved them to a safe area.”
