New term for pilot license exams! Minister Uraloğlu announced: Starting on August 15

Transport and Infrastructure Minister Abdulkadir Uraloğlu announced that the General Directorate of Civil Aviation (SHGM) will implement a new, modern system for the Pilot License Theoretical Knowledge Exam. Minister Uraloğlu stated, “With the new system, which will begin on August 15, 2025, candidates will have full flexibility in the application and scheduling processes. Instead of fixed exam periods, candidates will be able to choose their preferred exam date. Once the application is complete, candidates can start the process by selecting their preferred exam date from among the available exam dates in the system. The application window will be open at all times, allowing applicants to apply at any time.”
Uraloğlu stated that the exams will now have two stages: a preliminary exam and a final exam. "10 percent of the final grade will be determined by the preliminary exam, and 90 percent by the final exam," he said. "Both exams can be taken with a single payment. There will be no change in fees." He noted that the new system eliminates the requirement to pay solely via EFT, and candidates can now pay with a credit card through a virtual POS.
Uraloğlu explained that each candidate will be administered the exam using a dedicated computer, a personalized question set, a QR code, and time- and location-stamped camera recordings. He added that trainees will be able to view their department-based success charts at the end of the preliminary exam. He explained, "Exams will be available in every province and district based on demand. This will provide our candidates with a faster and more comfortable exam experience. With the new system, we are making the exam planning, application, and payment processes more flexible and candidate-focused."
Minister Uraloğlu also stated that important announcements will soon be made for those who want to become aviation professionals such as pilots, technicians, and air traffic controllers, adding that some work is underway in this regard and will be announced shortly.
