Türkiye built strong trade bridges at the Damascus Fair

Forty companies and institutions from Türkiye participated in the 62nd Damascus International Fair in Syria, occupying approximately 1,000 square meters of booth space. The fair, which featured Turkish companies from numerous sectors ranging from furniture and construction to food and alternative energy systems, attracted considerable attention from Türkiye. The close attention and sincerity shown by Turkish businesspeople at the fair was interpreted as a sign that strong trade bridges can be built.
Southeastern Anatolia Exporters' Association Deputy Secretary General Serdar Aydoğan told an Anadolu Agency (AA) reporter that they were very pleased with the interest they received at the fair. Aydoğan said, "Despite our short preparation time, both the ministry and the fair administration were very helpful. They tried to resolve our issues immediately."
Aydoğan stated that not only Turkish companies that opened stands but also many Turkish business people attended the fair, which was held on an area of 1,000 square meters, as visitors.
Gaziantep-based carpet exporter Veysel Bozgeyik stated that the fair's attendance exceeded his expectations. Noting that this was his first time in Syria, Bozgeyik said, "We had some reservations at first, but the interest and sincerity we received here made us very happy."
Bozgeyik emphasized that the environment is quite promising in terms of trade, and added that if the energy problems are resolved, they may even consider establishing a company in the region.
The Damascus Fair continues to attract great interest on its third day and will be open to visitors until September 5, 2025.
