Minister Işıkhan: We will grant retirement rights to housewives

Minister of Labor and Social Security Vedat Işıkhan answered questions from reporters before the AK Party group meeting in the Turkish Grand National Assembly. Regarding the interim increase request of minimum wage and retirees, Minister Işıkhan said, "We are not currently working on any issues regarding retirees. They will receive the difference in increase due to inflation in July anyway. Of course, it is too early for an interim increase in the minimum wage. We will make the necessary assessment when the time comes, but it is too early right now."
Işıkhan then answered questions regarding the Public Collective Labor Agreements Framework Agreement Protocol, saying, "Both sides are working intensively. We are slowly coming to the end of the process. The employer side will make its offer, and the employee side will negotiate on it. As you know, the public sector's collective bargaining period is coming in August. Hopefully, we will complete it in a short time. We are in the coordinator position here. We will successfully complete the process by working with both employer unions and workers. Since negotiations are currently ongoing, we have not yet reached the wage point. Offers will be made when that stage is reached. Then, I believe that we will complete this process with compromise, success, by observing public balance and discipline, and by providing the necessary support to our public workers."
'THE CONTENT HAS NOT BEEN CLEARED YET'Minister Işıkhan said regarding the retirement arrangement for housewives, "We have a study on the retirement of housewives. We will bring this to the Economic Coordination Board after preparing the infrastructure and making the technical analysis in June or July. Its content has not been clarified yet. Because we need to make an analysis. We will grant retirement rights to housewives, but we need to know the limits of this very well. We will look at how many children they have, whether they have a disabled child, the length of service they have spent, etc. It was the good news of our President, and we will complete it before 2028, God willing."
