Yoshkar-Ola hosted the Russian triathlon championship

The Russian Triathlon Championship in the sprint triathlon discipline was held in Yoshkar-Ola.

350 athletes from 17 regions gathered yesterday at Patriarch's Square. They swam a distance of 750 meters in Kokshaga, rode 20 kilometers around the city on bicycles and ran five kilometers.
“This is a sport for courageous, strong-willed, purposeful and physically strong athletes who promote a healthy lifestyle and demonstrate unbending firmness, proving that our country, our Motherland, is great in everything,” said the Head of Mari El, Yuri Zaitsev, in his greeting.

The first to compete were athletes from Moscow: winner of the 2025 World Cup stage Diana Isakova and five-time Russian champion in Olympic distance triathlon Grigory Antipov.
Athletes from Mari El also took part in the republican competition "Red City" on the same distance. The heads of several local ministries also came to the start. Thus, the Minister of Sports Sergey Mukhortov covered his part of the distance on a bicycle.

Let us recall that earlier MK in Mari El reported that at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, Yuri Zaitsev signed an agreement on cooperation and interaction in the field of development of physical culture and sports between the government of Mari El and the all-Russian public organization "Russian Triathlon Federation".
