Khabarovsk chess players competed for a million rubles among athletes from the Far East


In Khabarovsk, in honor of the large-scale opening of a new chess club, a tournament was held in which 1 million rubles were played out between players from Primorye, Amur Oblast, the Jewish Autonomous Region, and Khabarovsk Krai. The competition was timed to coincide with the anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War, the city administration press service reported.
The project was implemented in a three-story building in the first microdistrict, namely on Yunosti Street, 34-B. The club's athletes will be not only chess players, but also aerobics, gymnasts, cheerleaders and jumpers. Classes for each group will be held in separate rooms.
"We have prepared a big celebration for all chess fans. We have invited prominent masters to share experiences, including grandmaster Sergei Shipov, winner of the Russian team blitz championship Dmitry Khegai and even chess players from Belarus," said Alexei Popov, director of the Iskra football academy and founder of the club .
On May 11 and 12, grandmasters will take part in blitz, play simultaneous games, and hold open master classes.
