River connections on the Tagus with interruptions on Thursday

River connections between Lisbon and the south bank of the Tagus will be interrupted during Thursday afternoon, due to a plenary meeting of Transtejo Soflusa (TTSL) workers.
“Due to the holding of a General Plenary, convened by trade union organizations representing TTSL workers, the interruption of regular service is expected,” Transtejo Soflusa reported this Wednesday in a statement.
On its website, the company states that the workers' plenary meeting will affect several river connections, namely between Terreiro do Paço and Barreiro, Cacilhas, Montijo, Seixal and Trafaria, between 12:55 pm and 6:45 pm.
“In the event of a stoppage in regular service, the terminals and river stations are closed during these periods for safety reasons,” the company warns in a statement.
According to the Federation of Transport Unions, the plenary will discuss the current phase of the negotiation process with the company and the position to be taken by the union organizations.
The successive cancellations of boats, as well as some changes to this service, particularly in timetables, have led to some criticism from users of this transport.
Transtejo Soflusa (TTSL) is the company responsible for the river connection between Seixal, Montijo, Cacilhas, Barreiro and Trafaria/Porto Brandão, in the district of Setúbal, and Lisbon.
In 2024, TTSL transported a total of 1,040,043 passengers on the river route between Seixal and Lisbon.
