Caixa releases salary bonus for those born in May and June

Around 3.8 million workers with formal employment contracts born in May and June who earn up to two minimum wages can withdraw, starting this Thursday 15, the amount of the salary bonus from the Social Integration Program (PIS) and the Public Servant Asset Formation Program (Pasep) in 2025 (base year 2023). The amount is available on the Gov.br Portal.
In total, Caixa Econômica Federal will release just over 4.5 billion reais this month. Approved at the end of last year , the release schedule follows the worker's birth month. Payments began on February 17 and will continue until August 15. Workers can check the status of their benefits on the Digital Work Card app.
This year, 30.7 billion reais will be available for withdrawal. According to the Deliberative Council of the Workers' Support Fund (Codefat), the 2025 salary bonus will be paid to 25.8 million workers across the country. Of this total, around 22 million who work in the private sector will receive PIS and 3.8 million public servants, state-owned company employees and military personnel are entitled to Pasep.
PIS is paid by Caixa Econômica Federal ; and Pasep, by Banco do Brasil . As is traditional, payments will be divided into six batches, based on the month of birth. Withdrawals will begin on the batch release dates and will end on December 29, 2025. After this deadline, it will be necessary to wait for a special summons from the Ministry of Labor.
Who has the rightWorkers who have been registered with PIS/Pasep for at least five years and who have worked formally for at least 30 days in the base year considered for calculation, with an average monthly salary of up to two minimum wages, are entitled to the benefit. It is also necessary that the data has been correctly reported by the employer in the Annual Social Information Report (RAIS).
The value of the bonus is proportional to the period in which the employee worked with a formal employment contract in 2023. Each month worked is equivalent to a benefit of 126.50 reais, with periods equal to or greater than 15 days counted as a full month. Those who worked 12 months with a formal employment contract will receive the full minimum wage of 1,518 reais.
The salary bonus should not be confused with the quotas of the former PIS/Pasep Fund, which are being withdrawn through another platform, launched in March of this year. The former fund houses quotas of around 10.5 million formal workers before the 1988 Constitution. The salary bonus benefits workers with formal employment contracts after the 1988 Constitution with resources from the Workers' Support Fund (FAT).
PaymentPrivate sector workers with a current or savings account at Caixa will automatically receive credit from the bank, according to their month of birth.
The remaining beneficiaries will receive the amounts through the digital social savings account, which can be operated through the Caixa Tem app. If it is not possible to open the digital account, the withdrawal can be made using the Citizen Card and password at self-service terminals, lottery outlets, Caixa Aqui or branches, also according to the payment schedule staggered by month of birth.
The Pasep bonus is paid via credit to the account of those who are current account holders or have savings accounts at Banco do Brasil. Workers who are not current account holders at BB can make the transfer via TED to their account via self-service terminals and portal or at the teller counter of branches, upon presentation of an official identity document.
Anyone who is not a Caixa or Banco do Brasil account holder and is entitled to the benefit can also withdraw the amount through the Gov.br Portal, in the “Receive the salary bonus” service, but it is necessary to have a silver or gold account.
Until 2020, the previous year's salary bonus was paid from July of the current year to June of the following year. At the beginning of 2021, Codefat followed the recommendation of the Comptroller General of the Union (CGU) and began depositing the money only two years after the employee had signed a work contract.
