High-flying final: Chelsea and PSG go for the title and a fortune at the Club World Cup

The revamped FIFA Club World Cup will have its grand finale this Sunday, July 13, with a star-studded duel between Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain . The match will begin at 4 p.m. (Argentina time) at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey, the same venue that hosted the semifinals.

It will be the final stop of a tournament that brought together 32 teams for the first time and will be broadcast free of charge on the DAZN platform.

The first team to qualify for the final of the revamped FIFA Club World Cup, which this year featured 32 participating teams, was Chelsea, led by Argentinians Enzo Fernández and Aaron Anselmino, who defeated the surprising Fluminense 2-0 thanks to two goals from Brazilian Joao Pedro.

Those led by Italian Enzo Maresca, champions of the UEFA Conference League , had finished second in Group D behind Flamengo and had defeated Benfica (4-1 in the round of 16) , Palmeiras (2-1 in the quarter-finals) and Fluminense (2-0 in the semi-finals).

To date , the Blues have accumulated a total of $45,625,000 in their accounts, including their two group stage wins and their progress through the knockout stages. The English club could also add an extra $40 million bonus for winning the title, or $30 million if they lose the final.

Paris Saint-Germain heads into the decisive clash in top form after a 4-0 win over Real Madrid with goals from Fabián Ruiz, Ousmane Dembélé, and Gonzalo Ramos . Luis Enrique's team, winners of the Champions League, Ligue 1 , the Cup, and the French Super Cup , have demonstrated a blistering run in the competition taking place in the United States.

One of the French side's unique qualities is that they scored 16 goals in the Club World Cup and only conceded one against Italian Gianluigi Donnarumma. That was precisely in their only defeat (1-0) against Botafogo of Brazil in the group stage.

The Parisian club finished top of Group B, sharing a group with Atlético Madrid (they thrashed them 4-0), Seattle Sounders (2-0), and Botafogo (0-1). In the round of 16, they crushed Lionel Messi's Inter Miami with a resounding 4-0 victory. In the quarterfinals, they faced the powerful Bayern Munich, who fell without any excuses by 2-0, and in the semifinals, they suffered a devastating 4-0 defeat against Real Madrid.

In terms of revenue from wins and progress in the Club World Cup, PSG pocketed the same amount as their opponents on Sunday and could end up with earnings of $85,625,000 , not including the initial participation fee, which for UEFA clubs was between $12.81 and $38.19 million , which would raise the total prize to more than $125 million.

It's worth noting that the French capital team had earned around US$30 million for winning the Champions League, while the London team earned another US$8 million for being crowned Conference League champions.
