Gallos Blancos de Querétaro is sold to Innovatio Capital for $120 million.

Gallos Blancos de Querétaro is sold to Innovatio Capital for $120 million.

The Gallos Blancos de Querétaro have new owners. This Friday, the official sale of the club to Innovatio Capital , a U.S. investment firm headed by Marc Spiegel , was confirmed in a transaction valued at approximately $120 million , a record figure in Liga MX history for a team without its own facilities.

The sale was approved by the Mexican Football Federation (FMF) , the Assembly of Owners of the Liga MX and the Federal Economic Competition Commission (Cofece) , which marks an important step in the fight against timeshare, since Grupo Caliente — former owner of Querétaro — will remain solely with the Xolos de Tijuana.

The new management group for Gallos Blancos is comprised of investors from the United States, Mexico, and Europe. Marc Spiegel , founder of Rubicon Global , will assume the role of president, joined by Chris Spooner as chief financial officer and Ed Malyon as general partner.

Among its goals is to transform the club with a focus on technology, data analytics, sustainability, and developing local talent.

The transaction comes at a symbolic moment, as the Querétaro club has just celebrated its 75th anniversary, an occasion the new owners want to take advantage of to launch a new era for the institution.

Spiegel stated that the project is designed for the long term and will seek to reconnect with Querétaro fans through sports.

Innovatio Capital aims to consolidate Gallos Blancos as a modern, competitive club with a local identity. In addition to keeping the team in the city of Querétaro , it plans to strengthen its grassroots efforts and establish strong community ties.

The debut of this new era will be in the 2025 Apertura tournament , when Querétaro visits the Xolos de Tijuana , its former sister club under the control of Grupo Caliente .

With this sale, one cycle closes and another opens, promising innovation and development for the Querétaro institution.
