Gervonta Davis arrested in Florida for allegedly assaulting his ex-partner

Gervonta “Tank” Davis , World Boxing Association (WBA) lightweight champion, was arrested early Friday morning, July 11, in Miami Beach.
The arrest followed a warrant issued for an alleged case of domestic violence that occurred on June 15 in the city of Doral .
According to police reports, Davis visited the home of his ex-partner, the mother of his children, to pick up the children.

During the visit, he allegedly hit the woman on the back of the head with a closed fist and slapped her, causing a visible cut on her lip.
The victim's mother witnessed the altercation and recorded a video showing the boxer throwing a box in the middle of the argument.
The boxer's vehicle was detected by a license plate reader in the area of Lincoln Road , allowing authorities to locate and arrest him shortly after midnight.
Davis was taken to the Doral Police Department and later booked into the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Facility, where bail was set at $10,000 . During the proceedings, he refused to read or sign his Miranda rights.
This isn't the first time Davis has faced legal charges. He was arrested in 2023 on a similar charge that was later dropped.
He has also faced charges of hit-and-run, assault, and other incidents involving violent conduct.
The arrest comes just over a month after his most recent fight and as he was preparing for his next bout scheduled for August 16.
So far, neither his team nor his promoters have issued any official statements regarding how this arrest could affect his sporting commitments.
Gervonta Davis, known for his aggressiveness in the ring, is once again at the center of controversy for his behavior outside of it.
The evolution of the case will determine whether he will be able to maintain his professional career or whether his sporting future will be jeopardized by this new accusation.
