Trump will meet with Putin in Hungary to negotiate an end to the war in Ukraine.

The date of the meeting has yet to be determined. Both sides have also agreed that a meeting of high-level advisors will be held next week "at a location to be determined."
US President Donald Trump announced Thursday that he will meet with his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin , in Budapest to try to end the war in Ukraine , but did not specify the exact date.
This will be the second meeting between the two leaders, following the one they held on August 15 in Alaska.
Trump made this announcement after a call with Putin on Thursday, one day before hosting Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky at the White House.
"President Putin and I will meet at an agreed-upon location, Budapest , Hungary , to see if we can end this ignominious war between Russia and Ukraine," the US leader wrote on his social media platform, Truth Social.
According to Trump, the two also agreed to hold a high-level advisory meeting next week "at a location to be determined," with Secretary of State Marco Rubio participating on the U.S. side.
The Republican recalled that he will meet with Zelensky in the Oval Office this Friday and announced that the two will discuss his conversation with Putin "and much more."
"I think today's phone call was a big step forward ," he said.
According to Trump, the call was "very productive," and Putin congratulated him "on the great achievement of peace in the Middle East," referring to the ceasefire agreement in Gaza.
"I firmly believe that this success in the Middle East will contribute to our negotiations to end the war with Russia and Ukraine," he stressed.
Putin also thanked U.S. First Lady Melania Trump for her efforts to reunite Ukrainian children with their families, the White House resident said.
Trump this week suggested the possibility of delivering long-range Tomahawk missiles to Ukraine, which has been interpreted as a new twist in the White House's strategy to increase pressure on Putin.
The Kremlin warned Thursday, on the eve of the meeting, that the delivery of Tomahawk missiles to kyiv would represent a "new level of escalation."
