The prestigious Blue Marina Awards at the Marina Uno tourist port in Lignano Riviera
For the third consecutive year, the Marina Uno Tourist Port in Lignano Riviera has won the Blue Marina Awards 2025 , a prestigious national recognition awarded yesterday during the ceremony of the fourth edition, held in Genoa in the historic setting of Palazzo Doria.
The initiative, conceived and coordinated by Walter Vassallo and promoted by Assonautica Italiana and ASSONAT – Confcommercio (National Association of Tourist Ports and Docks), with the technical support of RINA , saw the participation of numerous Italian tourist ports – ports and docks – selected for their excellence and commitment in the various evaluation areas.
Participation in the Blue Marina Awards is voluntary, and the evaluation is based on a detailed questionnaire developed and verified by the international certification body RINA, which measures the level of quality and management of infrastructure according to five areas with different weights: ESG management – Environmental, Social, Governance (28%), tourist reception (24%), inclusiveness (24%), innovation (16%), and safety (8%), for a total of over eighty indicators analyzed.
"We are very proud of this recognition," comments Giorgio Ardito, president of the Lignano Pineta and Marina Uno company, "especially for the attention paid to sustainability and responsible governance , values that have guided our decisions for years. The Marina Uno tourist port is powered exclusively by energy produced from renewable sources , supplied by Repower and certified by the German body TÜV, and by photovoltaic systems, whose surplus energy is made available to CER, the Lignano Energy Community. It also has an electric vehicle for dockside staff, several charging stations for electric cars and bicycles, and promotes energy and water conservation policies . Waste sorting is active not only on land, but also in the water, thanks to the Seabin system and Ekol mobile equipment."
The award, which includes ENIT – the National Tourism Agency – among its institutional partners, also evaluates tourist reception and inclusiveness , recognizing the role of tourist ports as true accessible hospitality centers and promotion of the territory.
"We believe that a marina should offer authentic and accessible hospitality experiences," adds Ardito, "such as breakfast offered to passing boaters or events dedicated to regional food and wine excellence, along with innovative policies such as high-performance Wi-Fi thanks to FTTH (Fiber To The Home) fiber optic connections, services and initiatives that guarantee and promote accessibility and inclusion. These concerns are not only environmental, but also social and governance-related, because the marinas are a strategic driver not only for tourism, but also for the shipbuilding industry and all related industries. This value is even more significant in Friuli Venezia Giulia, where the Marano and Grado lagoons and the Litoranea Veneta connect Monfalcone, Grado, and Lignano Sabbiadoro to Venice, creating an integrated system of hospitality and territorial development."
The Marina Uno tourist port also won a special award for developing an artificial intelligence project applied to the nautical sector, in collaboration with its partner Gaia International of Brescia, a supplier of AI systems to the Veneto Region.
