Wedding: With this dress the bride reveals that she is pregnant
At their wedding in the Dordogne, the bride wore a strapless Vera Wang dress... to reveal to guests that the couple was expecting their first child.
When Abigail Nutting and Jasper Themelis decided to tie the knot, they chose France, and specifically the Dordogne, as the location for their wedding. A place steeped in significance: Abigail's maternal relatives, the Bonneville family, have their roots in the city where the wedding took place, while Jasper has a strong connection to Paris , where he lived during his studies. "We love the avant-garde, the opulence, but also the eclecticism of the region," they reveal.
Abigail and Jasper meet in New YorkTheir story begins in 2018, in the heart of New York. Abigail had just moved there from Minnesota when she met Jasper, a Big Apple native. "Abby was innocent and curious about life, while Jasper was already searching for meaning and fascinated by her originality. The rest is history," they say.
A few years later, Jasper organized an intimate proposal on the roof of the Beekman Hotel. "He convinced me we had a dinner reservation, and he was waiting for me with an emerald-cut solitaire ring," she recalls. The matching gold Cartier wedding bands elegantly sealed this union.
Château La Durantie served as the location for Abigail and Jasper's weddingThe couple planned to exchange vows on the grounds of Château La Durantie in the Dordogne region of southwest France. They commissioned PHKA Studio, a Bangkok-based florist that's now well-known in France, to design the wedding. "We wanted works of art, not simple floral arrangements. And the result blew us away."
Abigail and Jasper planned more than just a wedding, a holistic experience: "We wanted the atmosphere to reflect who we are: curious intellectuals who love creating unique moments." The menu, created by Joss Genestet of Traitor Events, deviated from classic conventions: "We wanted an atmosphere like a big family dinner , intimate yet spectacular," they explain.
A Vera Wang wedding dress for AbigailAbigail Nutting chose a Vera Wang dress that feels romantic yet subversive. "I wanted something unexpected that would catch Jasper's eye while also being timeless." For the weekend's different moments, Abigail alternated between a MONOT dress for the rehearsal dinner, a Helsa dress to welcome guests, and a breezy Miss Rosier minidress for dancing the night away.
