Uruguay vs Spain - World Cup Group H LIVE: Deadlock broken in Mexico as agonising error hands tournament favourite the lead

The Uruguay left back has actually done a stellar job on Lamine Yamal so far tonight by Sanabria snaps into the back of Yamal there and that's an awful challenge.
The referee couldn't brandish the yellow card quick enough. Honestly, he was frantically trying to get it out of his pocket mere miliseconds after Sanabria hacked down Yamal.
A cynical foul from the goalscorer sees him become the first player carded tonight, less than two minutes into the second half.
'Brutal' says Gary Neville but the Uruguayan No 1 is hooked by Marcelo Bielsa at half-time.
Is that the last time we see him in a Uruguay shirt? I'd guess so.
Back-up goalkeeper Sergio Rochet is on.
Gary Neville speaking about Fernando Muslera's costly mistake which led to Spain's goal:
You talk about a mistake, it actually transforms the entirety of the group, the entirety of this half and the Uruguay spirit. They have a big job now to get back in the game.It was a bad moment for the goalkeeper. I actually feel sorry for him.
Ectasy and Agony.
Uruguay actually did a lot right in that half but the moment they got wrong the most means they are losing 1-0 and heading out of the World Cup.
Plus, Manchester United's Manuel Ugarte suffered a nasty looking knee injury and was forced off on a stretcher.
So, yeah, it's gone woefully for Uruguay so far despite playing better than they did in the previous two games. Go figure.
Many back in Manchester will be waiting anxiously to see just what damage Manuel Ugarte has picked up after he has just been taken off on a stretcher.
He was on the stretch and rolled his ankle as part of a nasty collision with two players.
OH NO URUGUAY! Howler from Uruguay goalkeeper Fernando Muslera gifts Spain the lead.
Just as Uruguay looked to have a grip of the game, Spain get their noses in front as Alex Baena's snapshot in the box is erronously spilled into his own net by Muslera.
That's agony for the 40-year-old goalkeeper, compounded by the fact that Uruguay had a player down and Spain decided - as was their right - to play on.
What a series of unfortunate events for Uruguay.
Rodrigo Bentancur has just tried to guarantee himself Goal of the Tournament by smashing an effort at goal from about 30 yards away.
It's miles over, but we appreciate the ambition, Rodrigo.
Honestly, if I was betting on the next team to score I'm going with Uruguay. They have come out of the hydration break with far more purpose to their play.
Uh oh, Spain are losing their groove a bit here and Uruguay are nipping at their heels and making life tough.
They look organised, a threat in wide areas, and they are doing a solid job in limiting the supply to Lamine Yamal.
Spain need to liven up. Remember they can still lose top spot in this group...
My word. That was THE chance so far for Uruguay.
Fede Valverde breaks free of Marc Cucurella down Spain's left and he plays the ball through to Darwin Nunez inside the penalty area, only for the ex-Liverpool man to go for a flick, rather than shot, which didn't pay off at all.
It was Rodri who coughed up possession - a collector's item - to Valverde and suddenly Spain were all at sea.
What did I say about Uruguay getting chances here?
I still don't think (at least I hope) these hydration breaks don't infiltrate our game for good.
But it does give me a chance to tell you that over in Houston it remains Cape Verde 0-0 Saudi Arabia and so it's as we are right now in Group H with Spain as the winners and Uruguay the runners-up.
Long, long way to go yet, though.
