Forget Fire TV Sticks, Roku is back with a totally new way to stream TV

Roku is back with a blockbuster update that Amazon can't currently match. Just like its telly-streaming rival, Roku is already built into streaming sticks and TVs, but now it's coming to home projectors as well. It's just been confirmed that two new Roku TV Smart Projectors will launch this month, with both able to beam content onto walls in homes. That cuts down on the need for a giant screen clogging up the living room, as these new devices offer an image size up to 120 inches.
Just like its other products, the new Roku projectors have Wi-Fi built in, which means there's full access to all the latest streaming apps such as Netflix, Prime Video and Disney+.
The Roku Channel is also a nice added bonus with this service offering plenty of things to watch for free. In fact, Roku boasts that its channel features thousands of free TV shows and hit movies, along with Roku Originals.
The first projectors to arrive will be made by Aurzen and Sharp, with them offering full HD playback, voice controls and Bluetooth connectivity for pairing wireless speakers, soundbars, and subwoofers.
Apple AirPlay is also included which offers support for streaming music, videos, photos, podcasts, and games from Apple devices.
“Projectors have long promised a cinematic experience, but often they’ve lacked the simplicity and intelligence consumers expect,” said Richard Halton, Country Manager, Roku UK. “With Roku TV Smart Projectors, we’re bringing the seamless streaming experience Roku users know and love to an exciting new form factor — making big-screen entertainment more accessible than ever.”

• The Aurzen Roku TV Smart Projector will be available from June on Amazon.
• The Sharp Roku TV Smart Projector will be available from June at Asda, and from July at Tesco.
Pricing is to be announced.
