No Unauthorized Activities in Cappadocia

To protect Cappadocia's unique natural and cultural heritage, the Cappadocia Area Management is increasing inspections of ATV and SUV safari tourism activities. Unauthorized activities are subject to administrative fines of 92,610 TL.
Cappadocia's unique geological structure, historical fabric, and cultural heritage welcome thousands of local and international tourists each year. Tourists eager to experience this unique landscape up close and experience thrilling moments in its valleys are showing great interest in ATV and SUV safari tours. With the increasing demand for these tours, coupled with the proliferation of unauthorized and unsupervised safari activities, the Cappadocia Area Management took action. Inspections have been intensified under the "Cappadocia Area Management Tourism Sports Activities Regulation."
The Area Directorate requires that ATV, UTV, and SUV safari activities be conducted only on designated routes with the necessary qualifications and permits. Activities are prohibited in museums and historical sites, and tours are limited to groups of up to eight vehicles. Furthermore, violations of numerous regulations, such as requiring a tour leader, using safety equipment, completing insurance procedures, and avoiding environmental damage, result in penalties.
According to the regulation, unauthorized use of vehicles, exceeding capacity, going off-course without permission and environmental pollution are among the violations that require immediate cessation of activity.
If businesses that violate the regulation are detected by the Area Directorate teams through physical and digital monitoring systems, an administrative fine of 92,610 TL will be imposed.
“Every unconscious activity harms the heritage.”
Cappadocia Site Manager A. Cem Aslanbay stated that both visitor safety and environmental sustainability will continue to be ensured through regular inspections in the region, and said:
Cappadocia is one of the most precious natural and cultural heritage sites not only in our country but also in the world. It is our responsibility to ensure sustainable tourism in this special region. Every unauthorized and reckless activity harms this heritage. Therefore, our inspections will continue to increase. We must all promote a tourism approach that respects nature and is compatible with the environment and cultural heritage.
