- Ankara Akköprü Brief Introduction:
- Akköprü (Ottoman Turkish: اق کوپری) is a historical bridge built by Kızılbey in the name of the Anatolian Seljuk Sultan Alaeddin Keykubad I, at the confluence of Çubuk Stream, İncesu Stream and Hatip Stream, located in the Yenimahalle district of Ankara.
- It was built by Ankara Governor Kızıl Bey in 1222, at a location along the old Baghdad trade route. The bridge has remained intact to this day.
- It is one of Yenimahalle's rare historical structures that has survived to this day. The structure was registered as an urban conservation area on August 8, 1959.
- Akköprü is located in the Varlık neighborhood of Ankara's Yenimahalle district.
- It is located opposite the ANKAmall shopping mall and in front of one of the 12 stops of the first phase of the Ankara metro, which opened in 1997. One of the 12 stations of the metro is named Akköprü.
