OpenAI launches GPT-4.1 and GPT-4.1 Mini

OpenAI officials say that GPT-4.1 offers better instruction-following and advanced coding skills than the previously used GPT-4o model. It is also stated that this model works faster than the o-series models.

According to Techcrunch, the new model is now available to ChatGPT Plus, Pro, and Team subscribers, while GPT-4.1 Mini is now available to all ChatGPT users, including free users.

With the arrival of the new models, the GPT-4.0 Mini model, which has been in use for a while, is being completely removed from ChatGPT. It is being replaced by GPT-4.1 Mini , and it is emphasized that this new version is better in terms of both performance and processing efficiency.

SECURITY REPORT DISCUSSION

GPT-4.1 was first made available to developers via the API in April. However, the model’s release without a security report caused controversy in the AI ​​community. Responding to criticism, OpenAI explained that GPT-4.1 was not a “pioneer” model and therefore did not require a comprehensive security report.

“ GPT-4.1 does not offer any new interaction methods and does not exhibit any intelligence beyond GPT-4o. Therefore, its security assessments differ from the leading models,” said Johannes Heidecke, Head of Security Systems at OpenAI, on social media platform X.

The introduction of new AI models comes at a time when interest in AI-powered coding tools is growing. According to reports in the US media, OpenAI is preparing to buy popular AI coding tool Windsurf for $3 billion. On the other hand, Google has also joined the race ambitiously by adding GitHub integration to its AI chatbot called Gemini.
