Journalist Hikmet Cicek passed away

Journalist and writer Hikmet Çiçek, considered one of the representatives of the 68 generation, passed away.

Çiçek was working as Odatv's Ankara News Director.

Çiçek described the conversation with Deniz Gezmiş, which would be their last on the subject of armed struggle, with the following expressions:

"One evening, Deniz called us to ODTÜ. We took Deniz in a vehicle and toured ODTÜ. Deniz said that they would soon go to the mountains and start an armed struggle. It was before Nurhak. He suggested that we join them. He wanted us to come too. Aktan did not accept Deniz's suggestion. We said goodbye to Deniz. It was the last time we saw him."

Çiçek was also one of the journalists who was tried and imprisoned in the Ergenekon Conspiracy.
