İmamoğlu's very harsh 'interest' reaction to AKP! 'You spent the workers like loose change'

Ekrem İmamoğlu, the Mayor of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) and CHP's presidential candidate, sent a new message from Silivri Prison where he is being held.

İmamoğlu, who criticized the AKP's economic and interest rate policies with harsh words, said, "You spent Türkiye's SMEs, industrialists, tradesmen and laborers, who produce day and night with their sweat and create employment, like they were loose change."

İmamoğlu's statement is as follows:

History will record you as “the biggest interest advocate who pretended to be against interest.”

The resources you have allocated to interest from your managed budget as of April have increased by 99% compared to last year. In contrast, the income increase has remained at 50%.

In the first four months, you have reached half of the 2025 budget deficit forecast.

The support you paid belatedly to the farmers you made unable to make ends meet will total 135 billion TL this year, but you transferred 725 billion TL to the loan sharks you approached in the first four months alone.

As if the money you gave to interest collectors wasn't enough, after the March 19 coup you planned behind closed doors, you burned 55 billion dollars in reserves and increased the Central Bank interest rate to 49%.

While you revived the loan sharks, you condemned the country's producers to a 70% interest rate loan debt. You spent Türkiye's SMEs, industrialists, tradesmen and laborers who produce day and night with sweat and create employment like loose change.

History will remember you as "the financial leg of the March 19 coup, which was carried out against the will of 16 million voters with trumped-up accusations."

You will never be able to get rid of this stain. Let it be your problem.
