Here are the public transports that are free on May 19
Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloğlu announced that according to the Presidential Decree published in the Official Gazette dated April 26, on May 19, Commemoration of Atatürk, Youth and Sports Day (tomorrow), the urban rail system lines affiliated with the Ministry in Ankara, Istanbul and Izmir will be free of charge.
Minister Uraloğlu made a statement on the subject and said, “Marmaray, Sirkeci-Kazlıçeşme Rail System Line and Gayrettepe-İstanbul Airport-Arnavutköy Metro in Istanbul, Başkentray in Ankara and İZBAN in Izmir will provide free service. These lines will provide fast, easy and economical transportation to all our citizens throughout the day.”
ISTANBUL FREE
In a statement made by İETT, those who have a personalized İstanbulkart will be able to travel free of charge on May 19. In addition, bus and metrobus services will operate on Saturday schedule.
IZMIR 50 PERCENT DISCOUNT
ESHOT, İZULAŞ, İZDENİZ, Metro and Tramway companies, and İZTAŞIT vehicles affiliated with the Izmir Metropolitan Municipality will have a 50 percent discount on May 19, Commemoration of Atatürk, Youth and Sports Day.
FREE IN ANKARA TOO
On Monday, May 19, 2025, the 106th anniversary of the May 19 Commemoration of Atatürk, Youth and Sports Day, EGO General Directorate public transportation vehicles (EGO Buses, Metro and ANKARAY) will provide free service.
