Apple sues former employee

Apple has filed a lawsuit against former employee Chen Shi, who left the company and then moved to Oppo, for allegedly leaking confidential information about the Apple Watch to his new company.
The former Apple employee was involved in the development of sensor systems from 2020 to 2025. He also had access to information designated as trade secrets, including the Apple Watch design, device development, and the product roadmap.
According to details reported by MacRumors, Shi allegedly collected important Apple Watch documents during his departure from Apple and attended dozens of meetings with the Apple Watch technical team to learn about ongoing research and development work.
APPLE WATCH LEAKS TRADE SECRET INFORMATIONThree days before leaving Apple, Shi allegedly downloaded 63 files from Apple's folder and transferred them to a USB drive. After downloading the files, he even researched how to reset a MacBook and whether files opened could be tracked by others.
Meanwhile, Chen Shi, who has just started his new position at Oppo, sent a message to his employees at his new company, informing them that he will be gathering information, especially about Apple's heart rate detection methods.
Oppo released its first statement. The company stated that it was aware of the lawsuit filed by Apple in California and that it had carefully reviewed the allegations, but found no evidence supporting the allegations regarding the employee in question.
