The historic light event in Siirt was observed with takbir and salawat

The first rays of the sun illuminated the bedside of his teacher, İsmail Fakirullah, 261 years ago, thanks to a lighting system commissioned by İbrahim Hakkı in the Tillo district of Siirt. This year, the event took place. Citizens gathered for a program organized after morning prayers by the Tillo District Governor's Office, the Tillo Municipality, and the Provincial Directorate of Culture and Tourism, under the auspices of the Governor's Office. The program began with Quranic recitation and hymns, followed by a recital of divine recitations.
In his speech, Governor Kemal Kızılkaya stated that Tillo has been an important center of culture and civilization throughout history, not only for its natural beauty but also for its scientific and spiritual depth. Kızılkaya stated that this event, which occurs annually around the equinoxes, demonstrates that humans can be in harmony with nature and the universe. He emphasized that this mechanism, built by İbrahim Hakkı to repay his debt of loyalty to his teacher, is not only a marvel of engineering but also a symbol of loyalty, respect, and love. He stated that the light reaching the tomb of İsmail Fakirullah with the sunrise is one of the most beautiful examples of a legacy of knowledge and a spiritual bond.
Kızılkaya stated that the district is a spiritual treasure not only of Siirt but of the entire country, emphasizing that knowledge and wisdom have illuminated it for centuries. He explained that this light is not merely a ray of sunlight falling from the sky onto the shrine, but also a guiding light of knowledge and wisdom. He expressed his hope that this ancient tradition will inspire young people to advance on the path of knowledge and wisdom.
Following the speeches, attendees waited with their mobile phones to watch the light event on a giant screen in the municipal building. The event, which occurred at 6:21 a.m. with the rising sun accompanied by recitations of the takbir and salawat, lasted approximately five minutes and was recorded by residents on their mobile phones.
The program was attended by AK Party Siirt Deputy Mervan Gül, Chief Public Prosecutor Yasin Coşkun, Tillo District Governor Tanju Çanakcıoğlu, Tillo Mayor İdham Aydın, Provincial Police Chief Necmettin Öztürk, AK Party Provincial Chairman Bahri Caner Özturan and citizens.
İbrahim Hakkı, the Prophet Muhammad, devised this mechanism for his teacher, İsmail Fakirullah, who passed away in 1734, asking, "What can I do with the sun that doesn't rise at my teacher's bedside?" He had a tower built next to the tomb and a stone wall built on a hill approximately 3 kilometers from Tillo. Every year, the sun's rays, rising on the equinox, filtered through a window in the wall and were reflected in a mirror in the tower. The first rays entering the tomb through the window illuminated the bedside of İsmail Fakirullah's grave. The mechanism was rendered inoperable during restoration work in the 1960s due to the window's relocation. However, in 2011, scientists opened a new window, making the event accessible again.
