Extortion operation in Kırıkkale: Mayor Sungur and 4 others arrested

Five suspects, including Yahşihan Mayor Ahmet Sungur, were arrested as part of an investigation into "extortion through coercion" in the Yahşihan district of Kırıkkale. Detained as part of the investigation launched against the Yahşihan Municipality, Mayor Sungur, Deputy Mayor CY, former Deputy Mayor OU, Zoning Director SA, municipal employees YNY and MS, former zoning director and businessman UB, and SGÇ have been processed at the police station.

Following a medical checkup, the suspects, MS and SGÇ, were referred to the courthouse and released after questioning by the prosecutor. Mayor Ahmet Sungur, Deputy Mayor CY, former Deputy Mayor OU, zoning director SA, and former zoning director and businessman UB were arrested by the criminal court of peace on duty. Suspect YNY was released on probation.

Within the scope of the investigation launched against the Yahşihan Municipality on September 19 by the Anti-Smuggling and Organized Crime Branch teams under the coordination of the Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, CY, OU, SA, YNY, MS and UB were detained along with Sungur, while SGÇ. was captured in Ankara.

The AK Party Central Executive Committee had decided to refer Mayor Sungur to the Central Disciplinary Board with a request for expulsion.

As part of the same comprehensive corruption investigation conducted by the Kırıkkale Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, former Yahşihan Mayor Osman Türkyılmaz, along with M.Ç., CA, İ.A, MT, TA, MT, A.Ü, Ü.T, KT, İ.A, FM, Ş.A., and M.Ç., were previously detained on May 27 and August 19. Osman Türkyılmaz, along with MT, Ü.T, İ.A., and TA, were arrested, while the other suspects were released.
