Frequent travelers, beware! New research: Those wheels are 58 times dirtier than a public toilet!

According to a study conducted by an insurance company in collaboration with microbiologist Amy-May Pointer , suitcase wheels are a breeding ground for germs. Experts have issued important post-travel warnings.
Luggage wheels, a staple for frequent travelers, harbor 58 times more bacteria than public toilet seats, according to a new study.
As unbelievable as it may sound, an insurance company study conducted with Amy-May Pointer revealed this: Luggage wheels are a breeding ground for bacteria.
Samples taken from hard and soft-textured suitcases at airports were analyzed. The results showed that bacteria such as Staphylococcus, Serratia marcescens, and Aspergillus were present on the suitcase wheels. While these bacteria are generally harmless, they do form a microbial film on the wheels and are believed to be responsible for the musty odor in suitcases after travel.
Experts recommend cleaning suitcase wheels with alcohol wipes or dish soap and water after every trip.
Another effective way to remove hair and carpet fibers from the wheels is with scissors. Keeping your suitcase clean can both protect your health and eliminate musty odors.
