A new era in shopping! A groundbreaking regulation regarding discount labels

The Ministry of Commerce provided important information about the rules to be followed when promoting discounted products.
According to the Ministry's statement, in order for a product to be promoted as discounted, the lowest price applied in the 30 days before the start date of the discount will be taken as basis.
In addition, previous price information must be included in advertisements to avoid misleading consumers.
In the statement made by the Ministry, attention was drawn to the basic principles that sellers and service providers organizing "discounted sales" campaigns must comply with.
IT WILL BE CLEARLY STATED HOW MANY PRODUCTS ARE LEFTIn the statement, it was emphasized that the start and end dates of discounted sales and, if the quantity of goods or services offered for sale is limited, this amount should be stated clearly and understandably.
The statement emphasized the importance of not including misleading statements or images regarding which goods or services are included in the discount and the discount rates to be applied, and the following statements were used:
"When determining the discount amount or rate, they must use the lowest price applied within the 30 days before the start date of the discount and share the price information before this discount in their advertisements. If the price has a validity period or stock limit, they must clearly state this information in their advertisements."
The statement noted that the Ministry continues to work with all its resources to protect the rights and interests of consumers and to strengthen a fair and transparent market order.
"The 'Guide on Advertisements Containing Price Information and Discounted Sales Advertisements and Commercial Practices' prepared in accordance with the decisions of the Advertisement Board in order to guide advertisers, advertising agencies, media organizations, sellers, providers, intermediary service providers and all individuals, institutions and organizations in the field of advertising has been shared with the public at https://tuketici.ticaret.gov.tr/haberler/fiyat-bilgisi-iceren-reklamlar-ile-indirimli-satis-reklamlari-ve-ticari-uygulamalari-hakkinda-kilavuz-guncellendi."
The statement also provided information on the number of files reviewed and penalties imposed by the Advertising Board in the first six months of the year.
