Last 10-day warning for driver's license holders: Those who don't go to the Civil Registry Office will regret it

The driver's license renewal process, which affects millions of drivers across Turkey, is nearing completion. Older driver's licenses can be renewed for just 15 TL until October 31, 2025. After this date, fees will increase significantly for those wishing to renew their licenses.

Those who do not renew their Class B license will have to pay 7,438 lira, while drivers in other classes will have to pay between 3,600 and 11,200 lira.

The Ministry of Interior has urged citizens to apply early to avoid the potential rush of recent days. Driver's license holders are advised to schedule appointments in advance to avoid potential overcrowding at civil registry offices.

WHERE TO MAKE AN APPOINTMENT? HOW TO MAKE IT?

Citizens can make an appointment for driver's license renewal through the following channels:

-Hello 199 Call Center

-General Directorate of Population and Citizenship Affairs mobile application

-nvi.gov.tr ​​address

After the appointment, the process can be completed by applying in person to the population directorates with the necessary documents.

REQUIRED DOCUMENTS AND DELIVERY PROCESS

Documents required for driver's license renewal are as follows:

-Old driver's license

-15 TL application fee

-Driver health report from an authorized health institution

-A biometric photograph taken within the last 6 months

-Full address information registered in the MERNİS system

Once the application is complete, the new driver's licenses are delivered to your address via PTT. During this period, citizens can continue driving with the temporary driver's license.

“OLD DOCUMENTS WILL BE CONSIDERED INVALID”

The Ministry of Internal Affairs announced that old type driver's licenses that are not renewed after October 31, 2025 will become invalid.
