The speed of the vehicle that caused the death of the teacher stopped at a red light was 229 kilometers!

While waiting at a red light on Antalya's Çevreyolu Street, a car with license plate 42 BT 341, driven by Mevlüt Külcü, a chemistry teacher at Mehmet Akif İnan Anatolian High School, was rear-ended by a car with license plate 42 AIT 900, driven by İsmail Andaç. Külcü, who was in the car that split in two, was killed, and Andaç was injured. Mevlüt Külcü, a father of two, was laid to rest in the Ilgın district.
The vehicle's speed was recorded within seconds on the camera.
The speed of the car driven by İsmail Andaç was determined by Konya Police Department Traffic Control Branch officers using footage from camera footage at the intersection, as there were no skid marks. The officers determined that the distance between Andaç's car entering the camera's view and the moment it struck Mevlüt Külcü's car was 207 meters, and that the car traveled this distance in 3.5 seconds. Based on this data, the speed of Andaç's vehicle was calculated to be 229 kilometers per hour.
"I DON'T KNOW HOW I ACCELERATED 229 KM/H"
İsmail Andaç, who was arrested after receiving treatment, stated in his statement that he had just bought his car, saying, “I always obeyed the speed limits. I was driving like that. I don't remember what happened next. I don't even know how my car reached 229 kilometers per hour. I had just bought my car. I had a problem with the gear shifting, and I took it to a mechanic to have it fixed. However, there was nothing mechanically wrong with my car at the time of the accident. I believe the accident occurred because I lost control of myself for some unknown reason. I wish I were dead. I didn't even put my foot on the brake, and they said, 'There weren't even any brake marks.' I lost control. The deceased had two children, and I have two children. It's impossible for me to have intentionally caused such an event.”
Speaking to DHA, Külcü's wife, biology teacher Kadriye Başak Külcü, said, "I received news from my daughter's teacher. I went, thinking she was injured. I wondered what kind of accident could happen in the city. I never imagined such a brutality could happen to us. I thought I'd go to the intensive care unit, but I went to the forensic medicine unit. Of course, we believe in fate, but we've concluded that this was murder, an atrocity disguised as a traffic accident, and that irresponsible behavior took my wife from us."
"I BURIED HALF OF MY SOUL IN THE GROUND, I WANT JUSTICE"
Külcü stated her trust in justice, saying, “I demand a precedent-setting decision from the justice system. When the accident footage is examined, there are no skid marks. While this is labeled a traffic accident, we believe that someone set out to take someone's life. We demand that our legal system treat this not as an unintentional traffic accident, but as an incident where someone set out to take someone's life. Of course, we have immense faith in justice and our legal professionals. As a mother, a wife, and a teacher, and as someone who buried half of her soul with her husband, I demand this sensitivity from our justice system. I hope they will hear our voices and make the right decision. I hope this person gets a few years in prison and doesn't set out to take another life. We've been hurt, and I don't want other children to be left fatherless like my children.”
'MY SON IS CALLING HIS FATHER IN THE HOPE THAT HE MAY ANSWER THE PHONE'
Explaining that his son could not accept the situation, Külcü said:
"We can't interpret this accident logically. I don't think the driver lost consciousness. We know my wife wasn't targeted, but this was an accident designed to kill someone. It would be better to call it murder. My 10-year-old son can't accept his father's death. He's calling his father from my phone, hoping he might pick up the phone."
'THE CHILDREN HE RAISED ALL CAME TO GOOD PLACES'
Kadriye Başak Külcü, speaking about the success of the students Mevlüt Külcü trained, said, "My husband was a good educator. He touched the lives of many children. He has many students who have reached great heights. He would have touched the lives of children who would later achieve great things. They took that responsibility away from him. Raising a person isn't easy. We all get somewhere by scratching and scratching. It's unacceptable for a person's life to be taken away from us so cruelly."
On the other hand, the memory book prepared at Mehmet Akif İnan Anatolian High School, where Mevlüt Külcü worked, was also delivered to his family.
