Exports from Ankara in the January-May period of this year increased by 9.6 percent compared to the same period last year, reaching $5 billion 863 million 845 thousand. According to information compiled by AA correspondent from data from the Ministry of Trade and the Turkish Exporters Assembly, the country's exports in May increased by 2.7 percent compared to the same month last year, reaching $24.8 billion. This amount was recorded as the highest May export of all time. In the January-May period, Turkey's exports exceeded $111 billion. Exports from Ankara in the January-May period also increased by 9.6 percent compared to the same period last year, reaching $5 billion 863 million 845 thousand. In the same period last year, $5 billion 347 million 865 thousand worth of foreign sales were made from the capital. When the distribution of Ankara's exports by country was examined, it was seen that Germany was the country with the highest sales in the January-May period. During this period, $419 million 409 thousand worth of exports were made to Germany. This country was followed by China with $418 million 216 thousand, the USA with $381 million 811 thousand, Bulgaria with $273 million 45 thousand and the United Kingdom with $252 million 48 thousand. ANKARA IS THE LEADER IN CHEMICALS In the exports made from the capital in the first 5 months of the year, "chemicals and chemical products" ranked first with $663 million 272 thousand. This sector was followed by the "automotive industry" with $642 million 664 thousand, "machinery and parts" with $611 million 640 thousand, "electrical and electronics" with $520 million 618 thousand and "mining products" with $489 million 667 thousand. The sector that increased its exports the most in this period was the "ship and yacht services" sector with 464.3 percent. "Ship and yacht services" was followed by "cereals, pulses, oilseeds and products" with 76.2 percent, "electrical and electronics" with 24 percent and "ready-made clothing" with 20.8 percent.
