“SUVs have taken off!
65 out of every 100 cars sold in May were SUVs.
Last year this rate was 57%.
The sedan fell, the hatchback melted.
Market by body type in May 2025:
SUV: 65.16%
Sedan: 20.15%
Hatchback: 13.9%
Others: less than 1%
Station wagon? CDV? MPV?
They are still a “niche enthusiast” business.
The table does not change in the 5-month total:
SUV share 61.7%
Sedan 22.3%
HB 15%
SUV sales increased by 17.8%.
So people like to sit high!”
