The award winners of the eighth International Women Directors Festival, organized with the support of Izmir Metropolitan Municipality , have been announced.
In the National Golden Reel Feature Film Competition, Gülizar directed by Belkıs Bayrak won the Best Film Award, while the Best Director Award given in the name of director Biket İlhan went to Gökşin Doğa Egesoy with the film İcarus. The International Golden Reel Feature Film Award was given to Madina directed by Aizhan Kassymbek.
In the Short Life national category, Selin Öksüzoğlu's film Güle Güle Turtle won the best film award from the jury, while Hazal Beril Çam won the special jury award for her film Sinek Gibi. In the international category, Marine Auclair won the best film award for her film Marc Blue Land, while Maria Melenevskaya won the Special Jury Award for Give Away.
In the National Documentary Competition of Kamera Göz, The Clock Without a Dial by Fatma Karakuş Kaçmaz won the award for best documentary, while the special jury award was given to the documentary Seize the Summit by Arva Damon and Binnur Karaevli. In the international category, the best film was the documentary Grains of Sand by Sarah Anne Gross, while the special jury award went to Despite by Beatriz Balsini Prates.
Cynthia Levitan's Pietra won the International Animated Film award, Ada Güvenir's As If Could won the Special Jury Prize, Carina Pierro Corso's Wild Flower won the International Experimental Film Award, and Devina Sofiyanti's Wishpers of Exiles won the Special Jury Prize.
