A museum hidden in the heart of Uzungöl: There is a memory in every object

Uzungöl, a world-famous tourism center in the Çaykara district, attracts attention with its rich vegetation, touristic facilities and local delicacies, as well as the 'Uzungöl Dursun Ali İnan Museum' established around the lake.

The museum, founded 6 years ago by Dursun Ali İnan, who has contributed to Uzungöl tourism with his hotel and restaurant services for over half a century, and his son Mehmet İnan, contains animal figures made from tree roots, chairs, tables, chandeliers and various decorative items.

The museum, established under the leadership of the tourism professional İnan family with the aim of passing on the rich cultural heritage of Uzungöl and the region to future generations, is the center of attention of local and foreign tourists.

The museum, which displays wax statues, objects from war periods, archaeological artifacts, and centuries-old household and agricultural tools used in the region, along with taxidermied wild animals, takes its visitors on a journey through history.

The museum, designed with regional architecture on an area of approximately 3 thousand square meters and hosting more than 100 thousand tourists since its establishment, attracts the attention of visitors especially with the wildlife section created within.

'WE BELIEVE IN THE CULTURAL HERITAGE OF UZUNGÖL'

Tourism professional Mehmet İnan stated that Uzungöl stands out not only with its nature tourism but also with its cultural heritage extending from the past to the present, and said, “Uzungöl is a place that has come to the forefront in Türkiye and the world with its current nature. Of course, as a family, we believed in the cultural heritage of Uzungöl, which is one of the important points that should not be forgotten in the long term.

Because people have lived here for centuries, danced horon, gone to the plateaus, migrated, and fought wars. We believed that we had a very rich cultural heritage. On this occasion, we decided to open a museum here to highlight cultural values. The museum we established to reflect our loyalty to these lands creates a more permanent effect on our guests after they see this cultural heritage that extends to the present day, along with the natural beauties," he said.

'WE HAD OVER 100 THOUSAND VISITORS'

Noting that they have hosted over 100 thousand visitors in the museum, İnan said, “As a result of our 30 years of work in line with our belief, we have created such music under the leadership of my father Dursun Ali. We opened this museum in 2019. We have had over 100 thousand visitors since 2019. 75 percent of our guests are foreign and 25 percent are local visitors. Our museum has been very popular since it opened. This place has become one of the places visited by our guests who come to Uzungöl. Those who come are also satisfied.”
