Despite the fake e-signature and diploma scandal that shook Turkey , social media is full of people preparing fake documents. Documents said to be approved by universities and e-Government are being sold in groups established on social media accounts for 6,000 lira.

It is emphasized that there is no need to attend any courses to obtain the document, and that the documents are prepared specifically for the name within 3-4 days.

There are also websites online that claim to offer theses in a wide range of fields, including business, law, psychology, economics, and tourism. They claim to offer theses writing services at all levels. Fees start at 30,000 lira for master's degrees and 100,000 lira for doctorates. While the authoring of theses is a matter of curiosity, it's claimed that each thesis is written by retired academics who specialize in their respective fields.

A study conducted at Boğaziçi University revealed that 34 percent of master's and doctoral theses contained serious plagiarism.
