331,000 companies were inspected in the first 7 months

The Ministry of Trade announced the market control balance sheet for the first seven months of 2025.
During comprehensive inspections conducted between January and July, approximately 331,000 companies and 20 million products were examined. During this period, administrative fines totaling 1.751 billion Turkish Lira were imposed.
In inspections conducted by the Ministry's General Directorate of Domestic Trade, 68,448 individuals and businesses were inspected for alleged violations of the automotive, stockpiling, real estate, jewelry, exorbitant prices, and unfair commercial practices. A total of 713,533,000 Turkish Lira in fines were imposed on 2,792 individuals or organizations found to be engaging in unlawful practices.
The maximum penalty is for unfair commercial practices and payment deadlines.The maximum fine was 290 million TL for unfair commercial practices and payment deadlines, while 254 million TL in fines were collected for price gouging inspections and 85 million TL in fines from the automotive sector.
In activities conducted by the General Directorate of Consumer Protection and Market Surveillance, 18,649 businesses were inspected, and a total of 357,295,000 TL in fines were imposed for consumer contracts, advertising practices, and product safety. The highest fines were imposed for consumer contracts such as prepaid housing and distance sales.
Competition Authority fines 168 companies 5.8 billion TLAs part of the provincial inspections, a total of 244,381 companies were inspected by Provincial Directorates of Trade in all 81 provinces. A total of 681,133,000 Turkish Lira in fines were imposed on 51,877 companies for non-compliance. Millions of products were inspected, particularly in major cities like Istanbul, Ankara, and Antalya.
In addition, the Competition Authority imposed administrative fines totaling 5.845 billion Turkish Lira on 168 companies for competition violations in the first seven months of 2025. The fines were most concentrated in the food, insurance, finance, construction, and chemicals sectors.
The Ministry stated that inspections will continue with the same determination for the rest of the year, adding, "Our uncompromising fight against unfair profits, actions that disrupt the market balance, and all attempts to violate consumer rights will continue."
