Citizens in Sivas stand up against the mines!

Residents of Düğer village in the Hafik district of Sivas are fighting against mining operations. Mining companies and residents frequently clash, with reports of drilling in areas where villagers have access to drinking water, heavy machinery collapsing village roads, and rendering pastures where animals graze unusable.

The villagers said, "We will continue to raise our voices and fight against mines and companies and protect our nature, water and living spaces."

CHP Sivas Deputy Ulaş Karasu made a statement on social media regarding the issue, saying, "Mining companies are not letting up on our #Sivas. Our villagers were confronted by a mining company that was drilling into the water resources and damaging the roads in our #Düğer village in our #Hafik district. We stand with our villagers to protect our water resources and living spaces!"
