Derya Sert , a 35-year-old mother of two living in Germany, had Botox to reduce the wrinkles on her face. However, the procedure turned into a nightmare that turned her life upside down. Sert, whose face was partially paralyzed after the procedure, said she has been struggling both physically and psychologically for two years to return to normal.
Shortly after getting Botox, Sert noticed that she started to feel strange on her face and that she could not control her facial expressions such as talking and laughing. At first, the young woman thought that this situation was temporary, but when her complaints continued, she went to the doctor. During the examination, it was determined that the Botox had damaged the facial nerves and that this had caused paralysis.
Sert, whose social life has been greatly affected by the health problems he has experienced, stated that his communication with his children has also become difficult.
"As a mother, not being able to smile at my children was the thing that hurt me the most," said Sert, adding that she resorted to various physiotherapy and medical treatments during the treatment process.
Derya Sert, whose recovery process is still ongoing, shared her situation with the public and warned those who want to have similar aesthetic procedures done to be careful. Sert said, “It may be an aesthetic choice, but it is very important that this is done by expert hands. The person I had the procedure done was not a doctor,” and emphasized that inspections should be increased in this area.
Experts, on the other hand, remind that such practices must be performed by competent people with medical training, and warn that incorrect interventions can lead to permanent damage.
