8.8 magnitude earthquake in eastern Russia

An 8.8 magnitude earthquake occurred off the coast of the Kamchatka Peninsula in eastern Russia.
Following the earthquake, which was recorded at a depth of 18.2 kilometers, a tsunami warning was issued for Russia, Japan, Mexico , the US states of Alaska and Hawaii , the Pacific Ocean coasts and the Pacific Islands.
According to information received from local authorities, initial reports indicated no loss of life, and many areas were evacuated.
The Governor of the Russian Region shared that, according to initial reports, there were no injuries, but a kindergarten was damaged.
Russia's Regional Minister of Emergency Situations said that tsunami waves of 3-4 meters high were recorded in some areas of the Kamchatka region after the earthquake.
The East Japan Railway suspended some services due to the earthquake off the coast of Kamchatka.
