Olympic Flame for 2026 Olympics to be lit in Ancient Olympia on November 26

The Greek National Olympic Committee has announced the date of the ceremonial lighting of the Olympic flame for the 2026 Winter Games. The event is scheduled for November 26 of this year, the Greek NOC reported.
"Six months before the lighting ceremony of the Olympic flame for the 2026 Winter Olympic Games Milan – Cortina d'Ampezzo, which will take place on November 26, 2025, the Greek NOC announces the holding of an Olympic torch relay on Greek soil, which will last until December 4," the statement said.
The Flame Relay will last for 9 days. The route, which will be covered by 450 torchbearers, will be over 2,000 kilometers long. According to the NOC, about 40 Flame meeting ceremonies will be held in the country.
The Winter Olympic Games will be held from February 6 to 22, 2026. They will be hosted in Italy - in Milan and Cortina d'Ampezzo. The ceremony of handing over the Olympic flame to the organizers of the Games is scheduled for December 4 at the Panathenaic Stadium.
Earlier, MK wrote that the press secretary of the Russian president , Dmitry Peskov, expressed condemnation in connection with the decision of the International Olympic Committee to deny accreditation for the 2026 Olympic Games to representatives of Russian media that do not cover sports.
