Bruno Sousa Costa is the AD candidate for the São Brás de Alportel Chamber

Bruno Sousa Costa is the Democratic Alliance (AD) – PSD/CDS Coalition candidate for the presidency of the São Brás de Alportel Municipal Council in the 2025 local elections. The candidacy, with the motto “The Time Has Come”, presented the first six names on the list to the local authority this week.

In a statement, the candidacy highlights that this is a team that is “strong, diverse, experienced and deeply connected to the reality of the municipality, united by a common project: to build a São Brás de Alportel that is closer to the people, more competent in management, more balanced in development and more aware of its identity”.
The candidate, Bruno Sousa Costa, a civil engineer, businessman, and mayor, emphasizes that he leads this team with the mission of "building a fairer, more dynamic municipality, better prepared for the challenges of the future." The candidate presents himself as "a man of action, with experience, the ability to execute, and a deep connection to São Brás de Alportel."
Coming in second is Emanuel Sancho, a profound connoisseur of local history and traditions, who has been involved for decades with the Costume Museum and the genesis of the Feira da Serra and Historical Reenactment. "He brings to this candidacy his experience, knowledge, and desire to help shape São Brás into the future, always valuing its roots," the statement reads.
Next up is current councilwoman Sílvia Revés, a master's degree holder in Psychology, recognized for her "discreet, thoughtful, and attentive listening" approach. The candidacy highlights her ability to "value dialogue, closeness with people, and a sense of responsibility in decision-making."
The fourth name on the list is Rui Silva, an environmental engineer and president of the local PSD, responsible for coordinating the electoral program. His presence represents "the technical vision, strategic planning, and political seriousness at the service of the municipality's sustainable development."
In fifth place is Judite, a teacher recognized for several generations in the municipality, who presents herself as an independent. "A charismatic and dedicated woman, who brings to local politics the same dedication and commitment to people that she has always had in education," describes the candidate.
Rounding out the top spots is Hugo Barros, coordinator of CRIA – University of Algarve, with experience in innovation, entrepreneurship, and technology transfer. He is described as someone who combines "strategic vision and technical expertise with a strong commitment to São Brás de Alportel."
In addition to the list for the Municipal Council, the AD also presented the heads of the list for the Municipal Assembly and the Parish Council of São Brás de Alportel, respectively Ivo Tomé and Gonçalo Mesquita.
The candidacy argues that this is "a truly joint municipal project," based on coordinated leadership among the three municipal bodies, which will ensure "effective, close, and transparent" governance. "Without an executive and an assembly in sync, the municipality loses its decision-making capacity," it warns.
Finally, the coalition emphasizes that the Parish Council will also play a decisive role in this strategy, ensuring greater proximity in resolving the day-to-day problems of São Bras residents.
"Because every person counts. Every journey inspires," concludes the press release.
