PJ arrests suspect of setting four fires in Mira

The Judicial Police announced today the arrest of a 22-year-old man, “suspected of committing four forest fires that occurred in locations close to two towns in the municipality of Mira, the first on July 31 and the other three on August 1”.
The operation took place on Saturday and was supported by the Central Coast Ignition Reduction Working Group.
"The fires, two started in the early afternoon and two others during the night, destroyed approximately four hundred square meters of forest, but considering the area, rich in acacias, pines and eucalyptus trees, there were no other consequences, thanks to the prompt and effective intervention of the Mira Volunteer Firefighters," says the PJ press release.
According to the statement, “following the investigation carried out by the Center’s Directorate, which is leading the investigation, it was possible to determine that the fires were caused by direct flames, through the use of a lighter, when the suspect was riding a bicycle on the streets of the region’s villages, surrounded by forests, adjacent to residential areas, putting the homes, their inhabitants and anyone who was traveling along those streets at risk.”
