The volleyball federation has brought in two coaches from clubs in Bydgoszcz! They will lead the national teams.

Michal Masny will coach the Slovak men's national volleyball team. He is a legend not only of the Slovak national volleyball team, for which he has played over 200 matches, but also of the PlusLiga. The outstanding setter played in the Polish volleyball league for 13 seasons and appeared in 389 matches. Since 2022, he has been the coach of BKS Bydgoszcz, a club in the Polish Volleyball League 1. He was also an assistant to the previous Slovak coach, Steven Vanmedegael.
"I'll try to repay the trust placed in me. I had certain conditions, which the federation met – I can choose the coaching staff and plan training camps, which was very important to me. The team's lineup is still being finalized, but my colleague from Bydgoszcz will be the assistant coach and statistician," Masny said, as quoted by the Slovak federation's website.
Martino Volpini has taken over the Slovak women's national team. He was also an assistant to the previous coach, Michal Masek. Interestingly, the Italian coach, like Masek, works for the Bydgoszcz club. Since January 2024, he has been the coach of Metalkas Pałac Bydgoszcz, a team that plays in the Tauron Liga.
He will be the second Italian coach to lead the national team, the first being Marco Fenoglio. Volpini stated that the coaching staff will remain unchanged and will announce his assistant at a later date.
"First and foremost, I'd like to thank the president of the federation for his trust. I didn't hesitate; I know the team well. I'd also like to thank Michal Masek, with whom I spent a lot of time this summer and learned a lot from him. I'm looking forward to this new challenge in my career," said the new coach of the Slovak women's volleyball team.
"We started the whole process after Steven Vanmedegael resigned for personal reasons and Michal Masek's contract expired. We wanted coaches with experience at both club and international level – that was crucial for us... I admit that this was the first time we consulted with the players about the selection of coaches – not to let them choose themselves, but to discuss the direction of development," admitted SVF president Marek Rojko.
