Arkadiusz Szymański, Karolina Kałęka: What do criminal lawyers expect from the new Minister of Justice?
The appointment of a Minister of Justice always generates a wave of expectations, concerns, and—at times—cautious optimism in the legal community. For criminal law practitioners, who daily grapple with the realities of courtrooms, lengthy proceedings, and the need for legal reform, a change at the top of the ministry is not merely a political matter. It is an opportunity—even a potential one—for a real improvement in the quality of the justice system.
One of the new minister's priorities should be to finalize the amendment to the Criminal Procedure Code, a draft of which has already been adopted by the Council of Ministers. These changes are of fundamental importance for practice – both from the perspective of defense counsel and the injured party's attorney.
