Trump-Putin meeting. Date and location set.
Trump announced the news on social media after saying the parties, including Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, were close to reaching a ceasefire agreement that could end the three-and-a-half-year conflict but would require Ukraine to cede significant territory.
On Friday morning, during a briefing for reporters at the White House, Trump suggested the agreement would include a land swap. "There will be some land swaps that will benefit both sides," the U.S. president said. The Kremlin subsequently confirmed the summit in a statement published online.
