The fire has already consumed over 15,000 hectares—an area significantly larger than the city of Paris (just over 10,000 hectares). So far, one person has died and 13 people have been injured (including 11 firefighters). This is the largest fire in France in the 21st century. Authorities say it is the largest fire in France since 1949.
