On behalf of the Municipal Family Support Centre, the research company is asking Szczecin residents what social services are most needed by, for example, families with small children, seniors and people with disabilities. The survey can also be completed online until June 16.

Collecting opinions and proposals from residents on social problems and expected forms of support is related to the creation of the Social Services Centre in Szczecin, which will replace the MOPR on 1 June and will implement the city's new social services programme.

"As part of the transformation into the CUS, we will expand support addressed to all residents, not just those using social assistance. We plan to introduce 30 new services," announced Maciej Homis, spokesman for the MOPR, in an interview with PAP on Tuesday.

The survey commissioned by MOPR is being conducted by the research company Indeks. Homis explained that the pollsters will be interviewing Szczecin residents on the streets in the form of direct interviews, and will also analyze the data sent online. Each resident can anonymously fill out the survey available at the link: https://cusdiagnoza.webankieta.pl.

The survey is to last until June 16. There are to be at least a thousand respondents.

"This is a number that will allow for a real determination of needs in groups of people who need support the most. The number of people tested may be higher," Homis said.

The surveyors will reach different social and age groups in different parts of the city. Completing the survey takes a few minutes. In the question about the biggest social problems, you can indicate 3 out of 15. For example, material and housing problems, unemployment, violence, mental and emotional health problems, loneliness of the elderly. There are also open questions so that the surveyed can suggest how to solve these problems. And also share their opinion on what social services are missing in Szczecin.

Homis announced that the research report is to be prepared by mid-August this year, and in the autumn a new program of social services implemented by CUS will be presented to Szczecin councilors and residents.

"This will not be a closed catalogue. In the coming years, we will be closely observing which services are the most popular, which ones should be corrected and which ones should be created. We will be in constant dialogue with residents," the MOPR spokesman summed up.

The establishment of the CUS in Szczecin is related to the provisions of the act on the implementation of social services in force since 1 January 2020. At the beginning of this year, over a hundred centres were operating in Poland. More local governments are preparing to launch them.
