Main tenant Ajax extends contract with ArenA by fifteen years

Ajax will continue to play football in the Johan Cruijff ArenA for the coming years. The Amsterdam club, which is the main tenant of the stadium, extended the contract by fifteen years on Tuesday, until 2040.
"We are happy to continue our collaboration. We have been playing in the ArenA for almost thirty years now, but it still feels - thanks to the continuous development - like one of the most modern stadiums in Europe", says Menno Geelen, general manager of Ajax on the club's website. "Moreover, the ArenA has grown over the years into the stadium that feels like home. Among other things, due to the name change to the Johan Cruijff ArenA, the successes we have achieved there and the unique matches we have experienced there with our supporters."
Ajax has been playing in the ArenA since the summer of 1996. Before that, the De Meer stadium was the home base for the Amsterdam team, who often played their European matches in the Olympic Stadium.
