In a night of excitement and constant score changes, the Saraperos de Saltillo fell 11-8 to the Tecolotes de los Dos Laredos in the first game of the series played this Friday, August 1, at Francisco I. Madero Stadium . The game was decided in extra innings after an eight-run tie in the nine innings of regulation.

Zach Mort started for the Saraperos and pitched five innings, holding off the Tecolotes ' offense in the early innings and taking a 6-4 lead before leaving the mound. Mort showed control in the early stages, although his performance was marred by a visiting comeback that began in the fourth inning.

Saltillo took the lead in the bottom of the first inning with a two-run single by Alex Mejía . In the third, a three-run rally extended the lead to 5-2, highlighted by a single by JP Martínez and a sacrifice fly by Jonathan Araúz.

The series continues this Saturday at Francisco I. Madero Stadium with Saraperos looking to recover in the final stretch on the way to the playoffs.

Although Saraperos held a 7-5 lead in the bottom of the seventh, a three-run home run by José Martínez in the top of the eighth put the Tecolotes ahead 8-7. However, Saltillo tied the game in the bottom of the ninth thanks to a JP Martínez single that brought home the tying run.

The game went into extra innings, and it was in the tenth inning that Dos Laredos ' offense struck again. With two outs, Ali Castillo hit a two-run single. The score ended 11-8 after the Nave Verde couldn't respond in the bottom half.

The series continues this Saturday at Francisco I. Madero Stadium with Saraperos looking to recover in the final stretch on the way to the playoffs.

Alexandro Tovalin was in charge of closing for Saraperos , but faced complications in the tenth inning where he received the key hit that defined the duel.

With this result, Saraperos loses an important home game in the final stretch of the season, in a series that could determine their fate in the postseason. Game 2 will be played this Saturday at 7:30 p.m., again at the Francisco I. Madero Stadium.
